 Gary
was first introduced to the world of rod building as a teenager,
when he ventured into a local sporting goods store in Redding called
"The Mecca". He spotted the rod blanks and asked the clerk about
them. After a question and answer period, Gary quickly decided to
purchase his first rod blank, and built himself a Fenwick spinning
rod for trout fishing on the Sacramento River... his home away from
home.
Gary decided that rod building would be a great hobby, so he
continued building more rods, some of which he sold to a few happy
fishermen. Upon opening the tackle shop and guide service, Gary
turned what was once a hobby, into a specialty service sought out by
many fishermen. Over the years, Gary has fine tuned his techniques
to keep up with the ever changing technology of rod building.
Gary has a real knack for selecting the perfect blank to meet
your specific needs... river, lake, ocean, or stream. These rods are
available in spinning, baitcast or fly actions. The process of
building your rod begins with a few select questions designed to let
Gary know exactly how you want the rod to perform, preferred action,
line weight, length, and weight of lure you will be casting. When
the proper blank has been chosen, Gary will help you select the type
of guides, reel seat, handle style and length, and which color
threads your rod will be wrapped with. Now the fun begins. Gary does
most of his rod building by hand, the old fashioned way. He pays
particular attention to detail to insure customer satisfaction, and
puts out most rods in a timely manner. His wife Lisa, will
personalize your rod with your name etc.
 "The
Mecca" is long gone, but Gary continues to build handcrafted rods,
and has taken what was once a hobby, and turned it into a service
sought out by many a fishermen looking for that SPECIAL rod, built
just for them, and their specific needs.
